Overview

*** Under New Management, US Navy SEAL Veteran Operated***

Kodiak Big Timber is a special place on remote Raspberry Island, adjacent to Kodiak, where the pristine wilderness abounds. From the front porch, you can see stunning wildlife like whales, orcas, bald eagles, and sea otters—fish leap from the waters directly in front of the compound. Nestled in tall old-growth spruce trees, Kodiak Big Timber boasts 190 acres of property for our guests to explore. We have three comfortable and quiet cabins adjacent to the main house and a fourth connected by a trail on the far end of the property. There is a woodfired “Banaya” (Suana) on the property, fire pit, BBQ grill and high-speed internet to help guests stay connected when they desire.

Kodiak Big Timber offers world-class fishing for halibut, lingcod, all five species of salmon, rockfish, and more are just available just minutes from Big Timber. Elk, Sitka Blacktail Deer, Foxes, and the world-famous Kodiak Brown Bears make their home here with us on Raspberry Island. Hunters, fishermen, photographers, and wildlife enthusiasts can quickly immerse themselves in nature. We have two clean, well-maintained vessels equipped with the latest fishing equipment, a comfortable heated cabin for up to six people, and a bathroom onboard.

What makes us unique:

  1. Amazing Wildlife: Bald Eagles, sea otters, whales, and puffins are directly out front from the front porch. Roosevelt Elk, Foxes, Sitka Blacktail Deer, and Kodiak Brown Bears make their home here with us on Raspberry Island.
  2. No Combat Fishing: Our location means no crowds and very little competition for fishing. We are within minutes of the most productive fishing grounds in the world.
  3. Professional Staff: Kodiak Big Timber is Navy SEAL veteran operated, with 23 years of wilderness leadership experience. Our clients can rest assured that they are in good hands when they adventure with us. Safety and professionalism are our highest priorities.
  4. Highly Customizable: Kodiak Big Timber has options for adventures other than fishing. Big Game Transports, Hiking, Kayaking, Photography, Whale Watching, and Wilderness Leadership courses are just a few options available during your stay with us.
  5. New 15-Passenger Van: We will pick you up from the Airport or a local hotel and bring you to the boat!

ACCOMMODATIONS

Description

The three main cabins adjacent to Kodiak Big Timber provide all the comforts of home. Our tastefully appointed on-suite cabins include a king size bed or two twin beds, a full bathroom, and large windows with an ocean view. Our staff can provide a third twin-size bed upon request.

The waterfront Two Sisters’ cabin provides a unique setting nestled between giant spruce trees overlooking Kupreanof Strait for those desiring a more remote private feeling. Two Sister’s Cabin is a “dry cabin” that sleeps four—furnished with a gas-powered generator, drip oil heater, outhouse, and woodfired Banya (Sauna) for bathing. A creek running through the front yard provides a steady source of fresh water. Guest drinking water must be filtered if gathered from the stream or purchased in advance. In Addition, Two Sisters’ cabin also has a two-burner gas stove, plates, dishes, silverware, a percolator coffee pot, a mini fridge, and a BBQ grill, just what you need for a week in bush Alaska.
