Overview

Aniak River flowage produces some of the best sport fishing in Alaska. It’s common to catch more than one species of Salmon and a variety of other species of fish in a single day of fishing.

The Aniak River starts at Aniak Lake and eventually empties into the Kuskokwim River. Along it’s way, it breaks into many small streams and sloughs, which makes for excellent fishing. The upper river water clarity is clear and current is fast. There are many gravel bars that make for ideal fishing for Rainbows, Grayling, Dolly Varden and Arctic Char. The lower river is wider and has a slower current which produces outstanding Salmon fishing within minutes of the lodge. You can literally fish right from shore at our lodge and catch a variety of fish.

Our guests are provided with an experienced guide to assure them of a successful and safe fishing experience on some of Alaska’s scenic rivers. Our remote river fishing is a paradise for both fly fishing and spin casting.

The Aniak area consists of taiga forest that runs out into the surrounding tundra. The background of the Kuskokwim Mountains and the many small rivers and streams that flow off the large Kuskokwim River, offers a very remote, scenic appeal to our guests. The spruce, birch and cottonwood forest is home to a variety of big game including moose, black bear, grizzly bear, caribou and wolf along with other fur bearers and waterfowl.

While traveling and fishing on the river, you might be treated to sights of a cow moose and calf swimming across the river or maybe a bear having a lunch of salmon on a gravel bar. Every day is a new adventure and you will catch a variety of fish in a truly beautiful wilderness area.
