The Club accommodates up to 24 guests in the beautifully appointed Lodge and adjacent manor-style Residence. Expert guides, state-of-the-art boats and equipment, fine Alaska-style cuisine, premium amenities, and personalized guest services make for an unparalleled sport-fishing experience.

Novice and experienced anglers alike enjoy guided saltwater sport fishing within minutes of the Club, which presides over the rugged coastlines and dense forests of the Southeast Alaska frontier. This untamed location is famed for wild Alaska king and silver salmon, halibut, lingcod, and more than 20 species of rockfish. From aboard the Club’s custom-built fleet of North River cabin cruisers, guests may also set pots for Dungeness crabs and spot prawns.

As the only the lodge on Noyes Island, with a choice perch at the edge of the Pacific on the island’s north coast, Steamboat Bay Fishing Club offers the closest proximity to the best fishing in Southeast Alaska. Club guests, owners, and crew are the island’s only inhabitants. Payment Policy

Dates not secured by deposit are not guaranteed and may be made available to other guests without notice. Reservations not paid in full by February 1 may be subject to cancellation. Steamboat Bay accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express. Payment may also be made by check payable to Steamboat Bay Fishing Club, LLC. All deposits are nonrefundable.

Cancellation Policy

Steamboat Bay Fishing Club recognizes that unexpected emergencies can sometimes interfere with travel plans, and we recommend that all guests secure travel insurance to defray the potential costs of cancellation. Please send any notice of cancellation in writing to reservations@steamboatbay.com.

Steamboat Bay assesses a minimum $1,000 per person cancellation fee. There may be additional charges based on the following schedule:

  • If a written cancellation notice is provided less than 90 days prior to arrival date, the cancellation fee will be 50 percent of the total amount.
  • If a written cancellation notice is provided less than 60 days prior to arrival date, the cancellation fee will be 100 percent of the total amount.

There are no exceptions to this policy.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Description

Spacious accommodations appointed in North Pacific style deliver civilized comforts amid the Alaska wilderness. Guests settle into oceanfront or forest-view suites in The Lodge and The Residence, both built from local timbers and graced with antique fixtures reclaimed from the island’s bygone salmon cannery.

Cocktails and dining take place in the Great Room, with its beamed ceiling, massive hearth, native Alaskan artworks, inviting sitting areas, and floor-to-ceiling views of Steamboat Bay. After dinner, guests may play a game of pool, opt for whiskey and a cigar, steep in the hot tub on the wraparound deck, lounge fireside with a book, or take a walk under the starry night sky to breathe in the sea air and the quiet serenity of the surrounding forest.

The Lodge at Steamboat Bay is the primary hub of Steamboat Bay Fishing Club. The Club accommodates up to 24 guests at a time, with the first 16 housed in The Lodge. Accommodations in The Lodge include six oceanfront suites (double occupancy) and four forest-view suites (single occupancy). An additional eight guests may also be accommodated at The Residence next door.

Each guest suite in The Lodge is located just a few indoor steps from the Great Room, where guests enjoy the fireside lounge, sweeping bay views, central fine dining, and the open bar.

Originals works by native Alaskan artists are featured throughout the property, and the ambient music may be customized to guest preference.

The Residence at Steamboat Bay is a manor-style house adjacent to The Lodge. Once a group has booked 16 guests at The Lodge, they may expand their group by up to eight additional guests at The Residence, allowing Steamboat Bay Fishing Club to accommodate up to 24 guests at a time.

In keeping with the artisan handcrafted styling reflected throughout Steamboat Bay, The Residence is constructed from warm Sitka spruce and other local timbers, and displays the work of native Alaskan artists on its walls. The Residence is sited over a stream that feeds into the bay, and features a transparent floor that offers incomparable views during the salmon run.

The Residence features six oceanfront suites (five single-occupancy and one double-occupancy), and one forest-view suite (single occupancy).

The Residence features an inviting Great Room with a wood-burning fireplace, a hearth of Noyes Island river rock, and a sinuous table for 12 handcrafted of local timber. Cozy living areas appointed with Alaska-style furnishings afford guests a serene view of the bay, and a covered deck and stairway lead outdoors to the beach.

Group Dining
Guests staying at The Residence enjoy dining and cocktail receptions together with the rest of their party in The Lodge, with complimentary transportation service scheduled between the two facilities. The Residence also maintains a full refrigerator, pantry, and bar for guest use.

Bayside Deck

Looking out over Steamboat Bay, the covered deck at The Residence offers a tranquil setting after a day on the water. A wide stairway leads over the mouth of the salmon stream that courses beneath the manor house to the rocky beach beyond.

Club Room
The upstairs Club Room is the gathering spot for a cigar and a game of eight ball. It sets the scene for relaxation with a pool table, game tables, satellite TV, and a fully stocked wet bar.

Hot Tub
After a day reeling in the fish, guests unwind with a soothing soak in the warm waters of The Residence’s deckside hot tub.

Meals

What flavors invoke the great Alaska wilderness? The chefs at Steamboat Bay Fishing Club answer that question daily with regionally inspired ingredients such as wild game, prime cuts of beef, fresh local seafood, and organic greens grown in the Club’s own garden.

Guests of The Lodge and The Residence each benefit from dedicated culinary crew and kitchens, with opportunities to interact with the chefs during evening cooking demonstrations. Pick up a few recipes and techniques, sample an impromptu appetizer, or just enjoy the show. Gourmet dining at the Club is customized to individual preference as part of Steamboat Bay’s commitment to personalized service. Guests with dietary restrictions or special requests are invited to complete a Guest Profile in advance of their stay so they may be accommodated.

Breakfast

Full breakfasts are available in the dining rooms of The Lodge and The Residence starting at 5 a.m., allowing guests ample time for an unhurried repast before heading out on the water. Selections range from steel-cut oats to Salmon Benedict with Hollandaise.

Lunch

Guests may choose to enjoy a picnic-style lunch while on the water. Alternatively, the best fishing spots in Southeast Alaska are so close that guests can return to the Club within minutes for midday dining. Guides simply call in menu selections en route, so lunch is ready when the boat pulls in to Steamboat Bay.

Appetizer Hour

After an exciting day of Alaska sport fishing, guests are invited to attend an exclusive cocktail reception in The Lodge or The Residence, featuring hors d’oeuvres and a cooking demonstration with the chef de cuisine. The Club’s open bars are amply stocked with Pacific Coast wines, local craft beers, and premium spirits.

Dinner

Evenings at Steamboat Bay Fishing Club, guests enjoy private bayside table service and a selection of fine dining options that changes nightly. Menus highlight a taste of Alaska with such choices as Smoked Salmon with Citrus Dill Crème Fraîche, Halibut Oscar, Snake River Wagyu Beef Tenderloin with Brown Butter Horseradish Demi-glace, and Panna Cotta with Alaska Berry Gelée.

Other Activities

Explore the Tongass National Forest blanketing Noyes Island, entirely uninhabited except for Steamboat Bay guests, owners, and crew—and forest denizens that include bald eagles, Sitka black-tail deer, and more. Single-person kayaks may be reserved by those who wish to explore Steamboat Bay by paddle. Watch for humpback whales, sea otters, and egrets, and capture the serene beauty of Noyes Island with a camera.

BOATS

Description

Steamboat Bay features guided saltwater sport fishing aboard custom-built North River cabin cruisers outfitted with top gear and state-of-the-art marine technology.

Custom-designed exclusively for Steamboat Bay, each 27-foot aluminum cabin cruiser carries no more than four guests for maximize fishing pleasure. A winch facilitates crabbing and shrimping. Dual outboard motors provide superior reliability and control, as well as ample deck space. Cabin seats equipped with shock absorbers cushion the ride. Comforts also include private heads, and, for the angler who desires some down time, each cruiser has a rear fold-down seat.

Onboard amenities range from refrigerators to microwave ovens that afford hot lunches on the water (guests may also return to the Club to dine). Satellite radios tune in to guest favorites, and charging stations are available to power up smartphones and other personal electronics.

    Details

    Our ground crew at Ketchikan International Airport is on hand to assist with luggage and hotel transfers. From Ketchikan, guests board chartered Taquan Air floatplanes and enjoy a short flightseeing tour over Alaska’s famed Inside Passage and the majestic Tongass National Forest, landing at the Club’s private dock.

    Dress is casual at Steamboat Bay Fishing Club. When considering what to pack, guests should keep in mind that weather in Southeast Alaska can change quickly. The Club recommends dressing in layers, ranging from knit shirts and down vests to light jackets and heavy sweaters. Steamboat Bay provides guests with all-weather gear (high-performance bib overalls and hooded jackets, and waterproof XtraTuf neoprene boots) to keep warm and dry in all conditions.

    Packing light is recommended because, on return flights, guest luggage will include wet-lock fish boxes full of flash-frozen catch prepared by the Club’s professional seafood-processing crew.
