Founded in 1980, the Alagnak Lodge sits a top a bluff overlooking the wild and scenic Alagnak River in the heart of Alaska's finest wilderness fishing area, the Bristol Bay watershed. Bristol Bay, Alaska, is home to the world's largest salmon runs, and each summer millions of wild salmon pass our doorstep on the journey upriver to their spawning grounds.
Just five miles upriver from the mouth, our location in tidewater is unsurpassed. Each tide brings another batch of chrome-bright fish, fresh out of the salt water, and full of energy and fight.
This is as good as it gets. Fish for all five species of pacific salmon and trophy rainbow trout in the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, yet have quick and easy access to the lodge whenever you choose to refresh and relax. Spend more of your time fishing and less time getting to and from the best fishing spots.
Each summer, tens of millions of wild salmon return to spawn in the rivers and streams of the vast Bristol Bay watershed in southwest Alaska. These salmon return nutrients that allow the ecosystem to support healthy populations of other fish and wildlife species, making the Bristol Bay watershed a "sportman's paradise."
Even in Bristol Bay, the Alagnak River is unusual in that it hosts strong runs of all five species of pacific salmon. Every serious fisherman should make at least one pilgrimage to Bristol Bay, but be warned, one trip often turns into many, as the fisherman gets hooked!
The tidal water on our doorstep is absolutely the best place to fish for salmon, the salmon are fresh out of the ocean, chrome-bright, and full of energy and fight. Fly outs give you the opportunity to explore the excellent trout, grayling and char fisheries in Katmai National Park and the surrounding area.
The proximity of the fishing near Alagnak Lodge means you have quick access to the lodge to refresh and relax, and a hot meal is always waiting for you between sessions.
