Overview

Situated on the remote banks of the Wild and Scenic Alagnak River; Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge is the perfect wilderness fishing retreat.

Our lodge consists of 160 acres prime river frontage, located in the most iconic section of the Alagnak known as the Upper Braids. We are only accessible via bush plane, landing on a private airstrip on the property. You will spend an unforgettable time surrounded by wild, untouched nature, while enjoying all the comforts our lodge has to offer.

Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge is located in the heart of what is one of Alaska’s last truly remote rivers systems. Using jet boats to navigate these waters allows us to access the best fishing spots, when combined with our remote location, far away from other lodges, you will see more wildlife than humans while on the river. We are dedicated to our river and our clients; providing the best experience Alaska has to offer while insuring that this system will be just as healthy for generations to come.

What makes us unique:

  1. Fantastic access to one of the best salmon and rainbow trout fishing rivers in the world.
  2. Luxury surrounded by complete, vast, raw Alaska wilderness.
  3. Close proximity to Katmai National Park - World's largest protected brown / grizzly bear population.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Description

All of our guest cabins, including main lodge have spectacular views of the Alagnak river. The Dining Lodge is the centre piece of the camp. Its where we take our meals, share stories and socialize after a day on the river. With lounge sofas, a fireplace and a stunning view of the river and surrounding mountains, this building really is the town hall of our little village. Wooden walkways connect all our private guest cabins (8) to each other and lead down to our naturally sheltered dock where a fleet of jet boats are ready to access all the best fishing spots within minutes of the Lodge. The Swiss Chalet on the hill, is perfect for larger parties, accommodating up to 8 guests comfortably and in style, not to mention taking in the “Million Dollar View” where you can survey the rest of the property, river and mountains beyond.

Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge is situated on the remote banks of the wild and scenic Alagnak River and is the perfect wilderness fishing retreat. Boasting a world-famous run of all five species of pacific salmon, the Alagnak is also home to a host of resident fish, such as leopard rainbow trout, arctic char and grayling. This prestigious river is located within the Katmai National Park, with its headwaters in the surrounding mountains and drains into Bristol Bay. It is also famously known as “The Branch River” for its seemingly endless braids, where 10 miles of river can easily contain 30 miles of fishable waters. With such exclusive river access, you are sure not to be bothered by any crowds.

The Lodge itself is on 160 acres of prime river frontage in an iconic section of the Alagnak River known as the upper braids. The only access to the Lodge is via bush plane, landing on a private airstrip located on the property. Other Activities

Bear Viewing in Katmai National Park:
With the highest population of brown bears in the world, the Katmai National Park is one of the most prized destinations for wildlife viewing in Alaska. Particularly for seeing large brown bears feeding on fresh run salmon. We have been operating in Alaska for over 25 years and have a clean safety record. Our well-seasoned and knowledgeable guides have developed a strong understanding and respect for these wonderful creatures, built up by living and working amongst them.

Our location on the Alagnak is deep in bear country and we often have bears within sight of our lodge. We are able to access the river by jet boat and find perfect spots for camera crews to set up and spend a whole days surrounded by these magnificent creatures. In the height of our season it is not rare to see over 20 bears in a day as well as an array of other wildlife. Our lodge based bear viewing tours, provide clients with comfortable private riverfront cabins, delicious meals and guided jet boat tours in prime bear viewing country. These majestic creatures are an incredible sight to behold. Get your camera ready and take the pictures of a lifetime.

Fly outs:
We work closely with a number of bush plane charter companies and offer a choice of fishing or wilderness/wildlife viewing options to our guests. These “Fly Outs” are a unique way to see Alaska from the air and spend a day either fishing or wildlife viewing in a variety of remote wilderness locations. Here we have a short list of our most popular locations. Each location changes with the season and we have full details when you arrive at the lodge.

Raft trips:
Alaska Trophy Adventures Lodge has been operating guided float trips inside the Katmai National Park since 1985. These trips are a tremendous experience and perfect way to escape into the Alaska wilderness and camp in style. Fishing for trophy rainbow trout, char, grayling, pike and all five salmon species will keep your rod bent and guarantee satisfaction.

These trips are limited to only 4 to 6 guests, and are ideal to do with friends or family. Our float trips offer great value with the opportunity to stop at a world-class remote fishing lodge half way through your trip.

The opportunity to fish and/or photograph wildlife on these rivers is unmatched. Unguided float trips are a great value and wonderful way to live out your childhood dream of floating an Alaskan river with just a rod in hand and no one to answer to. We provide everything you need for an unguided float trip except your fishing gear. Tents, bear containers, cots, rafts and all camping gear necessary are included and provided by us. Whether your interested in fishing for Pacific Salmon, Trophy Rainbow Trout or just want a week under the stars this is a great way to do it yourself.

Details

After booking your flight to Anchorage (ANC) you will need to arrange a flight from Anchorage to King Salmon (AKN). Only 2 airlines fly to King Salmon daily: Alaska Airlines and Pen Air. All guests are requested to be at the King Salmon airport by 9:00 am on the day they are scheduled to start their week at ATAL. This means that you will need to either arrive on the first flight in the morning, or arrive the night before and stay overnight in King Salmon at a local hotel. We have never had a guest miss the charter flight if they choose to come in the night before and stay over in King Salmon. Flights to ATAL start in the morning around 10:00 AM from King Salmon. A friendly local air charter service handles all flights to our lodge. The fee is $375 per person for your round-trip journey between King Salmon and our Lodge. All their pilots are highly experienced and their aircraft meet the strictest safety regulations. Lean back and have your camera ready for an incredible flight over the Katmai National Park.

On their departure day we strongly encourage our guests schedule a late afternoon flight out of King Salmon to Anchorage in order not to miss your connecting flights. As I’m sure you can imagine, weather can occasionally cause delays in Alaska.

If you have any questions about your travel arrangements, please contact us via email or phone prior to booking a non-refundable ticket(s).

Any flights that do not fall within the time-frame mentioned above must be approved by Alaska Trophy Adventures and may result in an air charter surcharge.
