Kluane Wilderness Lodge, the only commercial operation on Wellesley Lake lies in the land of the Midnight Sun and in the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush. This quality managed fishery makes it one of Canada's primier Lake Trout destinations. Lakers over 50 pounds will make your dreams come true. Take 24 hours of sun and fishing time during June and July plus the Aurora Borealis most commonly known as the Northern Lights in August and September and add it to crystal clear waters and incredible shoals creates a true angling paradise.

Kluane Wilderness Lodge is truly in the last frontier with the nearest neighbor or road 80 miles away, it's the way that the wilderness is suppose to be. You can even be here for a whole week and not even see a plane fly over and if one does, you have to wonder if they are lost. On your 200 mile float plane trip into the lake you will see endless forest, fly over alpine mountains with the only disturbance to the land being the scars from forest fires in the past and if your trip is in July or August they will be highlighted in pink from the fireweed - Yukon's flower.

Wellesley Lake offers Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Lake White Fish and Burbot in one of the most spectacular settings in Canada. The lake is small by lake trout standards, 11 miles by 6 miles but bosts some of the biggest Lake Trout found on the planet. From the pros to the novice, anyone can catch fish and all do. Along with the added advantage of not having to have a guide with you, you can fish around the clock if you so desire.

From the deck or the hot tub at the lodge you have an unobstructed view down the lake to the St. Elias Range in the Kluane National Park and once out on the lake a view of Mt. Logan, Canada's highest peak and North America's second highest peak at 19,850 ft.

Later on in the year when dusk does start to show, you will be treated to some of the most incredible sunsets that you will ever experience. This visual experience lasts for more than an hour as the skies turn golden yellow to scarlet red and every colour in between.

So come join us and bring your fishing gear and camera for a trip to the Yukon and experience what everyone else is missing. The north and Kluane Wilderness Lodge are like a magnet, once you join use you will always be back.

    Other Activities Available

Wildlife viewing both around the lodge and lake shore. Moose, bears, wolves, common loons, arctic loons, trumpeter swans, ducks and geese can all be seen. An evening of cruising around the lake can be a great time for the camera enthusiast or if you just want to take a brake from the days fishing.

Hiking around the lodge to the old homestead or old trappers cabin is just a short walk and a great way to get some exercise after setting in the boat all day. For the more adventurous, a hike up the mountain will give you a spectacular view of the lake and surrounding area. Almost always moose can be spotted in one of the many meadows behind the lake.

A relaxing evening in the hot tube with a glass of wine and an incredible view of the lake, St Ellis Range and sunset maybe what you need.

For you golfers try out your skills at our very unique driving range. We have had to quite sometimes as the Northern Pike will eat the golf balls.

The camp fire is always going in the evenings were many stories and jokes are told. You may even want to bring back the memories of being a kid again and toast a marshmallow or roast a hot dog over the open fire.

We offer a dining room, lounge area, tackle shop, fully licensed bar and pool table. Also for added pleasure we have one of the most remote hot tubs in Canada with an unobstructed view of the lake and surroundings.

We eat all family style with breakfast being served when you get up in the morning and fresh coffee waiting at your door step. Lunch you can either take it out with you in the morning or come back to the lodge. During your stay there will be at least one or more of our famous shore lunches of fresh fish that you will provide at picnic point half way down the lake shore. Dinners are served at 6:00pm with most coming in a little early to enjoy a cool one or a glass of wine before dinner. With the last dinner of your stay being our famous barbequed steak dinner over an open fire.

All our boats are 14 ft. commercial Lunds with 15 hp, 4 stroke, electric start outboard motors. Each boat is equipped with fish finders, VHF radios, life jackets, padded swivel seats, paddles, cradles for landing the fish, and rod holders. Your boat is always full of fuel in the morning and then topped up at dinner time. You don't need to worry about bringing your gear up in the evening after fishing as you will have the same boat for the duration of your stay.
