Overview

Why Choose ALASKA’S MOST REMOTE LODGE?

Because we take care of everything for you. We know your daily life is busy and when you decide to go on vacation, especially a remote adventure like this, we want it to be as stress free as possible. Our trip packages are all-inclusive from Anchorage. There are no hidden charges or nickel & diming you along the way. All you need to do is get yourself to Anchorage in time to catch our privately chartered flight to Anvik & we take care of everything from that point on. This is your vacation & we want you to enjoy every minute of it—you deserve it!

Once here you’ll find it’s like having your own private fishing reserve at this truly remote yet extremely comfortable lodge. There’s no “combat fishing” here. Located about 450 miles Northwest of Anchorage we really are the only lodge on the entire Anvik River. Our nearest neighbor is about 75 miles downstream in the Athabascan village of Anvik. You won’t see any other anglers, boaters or float planes during your stay. It’s just us & the wildlife on this 120+ mile river. Guests are consistently delighted with the genuine hospitality we provide and to find the comforts of home in such a remote area.

One of the most desirable things about fishing the Anvik, besides that fact that there’s not at all crowded, is the variety of fishing that can be enjoyed on this beautiful drainage. You can choose to drift fish from the boat, fish from the gravel shores of the Anvik or wade fish. Each day you fish with a different guide and different area of the river and its tributaries. Our accomplished guides each have their own techniques to help you catch more fish than you can imagine.

Picture yourself reeling in up to five species of Pacific Salmon, Northern Pike, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden, Arctic Grayling & White Fish—possibly all in the same day. While partaking in this incredible fishing you can enjoy close up sightings of sow grizzly bears teaching their cubs to feed on fish. You’ll also have chances to see moose, gray & black wolves, otters, beavers, eagles, ospreys, falcons & over 50 other species of migratory & song birds that make the Anvik drainage their homes.

The Hickson family & staff invite you to become part of nature at Alaska’s Anvik River Lodge.

What makes us unique:

  1. It's like having your own private fishing reserve at this truly remote yet extremely comfortable lodge. There's no "combat fishing" here.
  2. Having the distinction of being Alaska’s most remote full-service fishing lodge can likely mean that we’re one of the most remote full-service fishing lodges in world.

Amenities

RELAX IN OUR STEAM LODGE
Our authentic steam lodge made from hand hewn spruce is a sure way to loosen up sore muscles after a great day of catching fish.
COMMUNICATIONS/INTERNET
We have a repeater telephone system that works just like a regular phone. There is only one phone line and the batteries are powered by small solar panels, so please limit all calls to 5 minutes or less. We also have a satellite telephone for emergencies. Additionally we have an internet connection WI-FI via satellite up-link. You may use this at no extra charge, but be aware that we have limited bandwidth and please just use it for emails or checking webpages. You will not be able to download or upload large programs i.e. YouTube, music, movies or use the Skype type systems as this will quickly use up all of our allotted bandwidth and there will be no internet available for a period of time.
HOUSEKEEPING & LAUNDRY
Your room will be cleaned and beds will be made daily. If you have laundry that needs to be attended to it will be taken care of while you’re out on the river having great time fishing. There is no extra charge for laundry service.
POWER SUPPLY
A 16-KW solar powered electrical system supplies power to the property 24 hours per day. We also have a 20-KW diesel generator for back-up electrical supply. Electrical outlets in your room are regular A/C current.
LOGO SHOP
Be sure to visit our logo shop while you’re here. We have a nice selection of hats, fleeces, hoodies, fishing shirts and t-shirts with the Anvik River Lodge logo available for purchase at the lodge. They make great souvenirs and gifts.
COMPLEMENTARY BAR
We have an open bar that is stocked with domestic beers, wines, basic liquors and sodas. If you wish to bring your own special brands you may do so. Please check with us ahead of time on limitations.

Meals

DELICIOUS MEALS MADE FROM SCRATCH
The food at the Anvik is consistently rated top notch by our guests. Meals aren’t just basic pre-packaged restaurant food. In fact, most of the salad vegetables and herbs we use are fresh from our own garden. Bread is homemade & there are always plenty of cookies & desserts to accompany our hearty meals. Practically everything is prepared from scratch. We serve traditional fare with a touch of gourmet in a family style atmosphere.
Special Dietary Needs
We will do our best to accommodate special dietary needs if we are made aware of them ahead of time. You will be asked to complete a questionnaire before your arrival. Be sure to list any food allergies or aversions or special dietary needs so that we will be better prepared for your visit.

Other Activities

WILDLIFE VIEWING
You will find an abundance of wildlife along the Anvik River that has rarely, if ever, encountered humans. Moose, bears, wolves, lynx, beavers, otter, porcupine, martin and wolverine are just some of the wildlife to be seen. In addition to the more than 50 species of migratory and songbirds that make the Anvik drainages their home, you’ll also see birds of prey such as eagles, falcon, owls and hawks.
