Overview

Most anglers searching for a saltwater fishing trip to Alaska are interested in catching salmon and halibut. Finding a location that consistently catches both on every fishing day is important. Alaska fishing charters that feature salmon/halibut fishing, but also offers anglers the opportunity to catch black cod, lingcod, rockfish and sharks is when you have found the winner!

The abundance of baitfish in the surrounding waters of Sitka, Alaska attracts massive schools of salmon every summer. Of the five salmon species that enter the Sitka waters during that time, King (Chinook) and Silver (Coho) salmon are the main targets. Although anglers who fish in Sitka commonly catch King and Silver salmon on the same fishing day, their respective peak fishing times differ by a couple of months. Learn more about the best time to fish Sitka, Alaska. Guests enjoy catching salmon, most notably the King salmon & Silver salmon, using the mooching and/or trolling technique (groups choice).

Halibut fishing is strong all season long and Sitka, Alaska offers some of the best Pacific Halibut fishing in all of Southeast Alaska. Guests frequently catch halibut in the 20-40 pound range, and halibut over 100 pounds is common. Find out more in our complete Alaska fishing trips guide. Fishing guests have the option of using jigs, circle hooks, or double J-hooks for catching their halibut. Inquire today about our bonus halibut tags!

Our fishing guides do this for a living, on the water every day during the summer time. They know where the fish are biting, understand the techniques needed to maximize their clients catch, and when to switch locations to find the best possible fishing spot. The presence of a knowledgeable, personable, and experienced guide and deckhand is what makes a fishing trip to Alaska special! There are several reasons people come back year after year, one of those being the personal connection created with our guides and deckhands.
