Overview

We’re among an elite group of Alaska fishing lodges, priding ourselves on providing a level of service that is refreshingly old fashioned, with emphasis on quality. Our focus is our guests’ comfort and satisfaction! This focus is reflected in all our guest-oriented activities. From the moment the float-plane sets down to the time you reluctantly leave for home, you’ll enjoy a luxury wilderness vacation adventure.

The lodge, open from May to October, offers unique wilderness adventures that include saltwater fishing, fly-in fishing, kayaking, bear viewing, whale watching, beach-combing, wildlife photography, and much more!

Fishing in Larsen Bay, Kodiak Island offers the highest population of trophy halibut of anywhere in Alaska. Anglers experience superior Alaska halibut fishing at Kodiak Island Resort due to the remoteness of the area, coupled with the close proximity of the Pacific Ocean’s northerly currents. An abundance of marine life is brought to the Kodiak area via the strong currents, and all of this food provides a generous food supply for halibut, and all species of salmon, not to mention several varieties of whales.

Our remote luxury lodge is surrounded by the wilderness backdrop of the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, home to the world’s largest population of Brown Bears. Not only does Kodiak have the largest brown bear population, but because of the abundant food supply they are the world’s largest brown bears. If you are looking for an incredible place to catch king or silver salmon then Alaska fishing is the perfect solution. In particular, our Kodiak Island fishing lodge is the perfect place for fishing addicts, and novices alike, from around the world.

Alaska has the world’s largest silver salmon population, and like everything else in Alaska they are big! Anglers always dream of coming to the best Alaska fishing lodge to experience catching big fish, which we are so famous for. Besides king and silver salmon fishing in Alaska, getting here is half the fun. You will see magnificent scenery and abundant wildlife throughout your Alaska vacation.

The complete Alaska fishing trip includes spectacular scenery, wildlife viewing, native culture exchanges, as well as countless other activities. The variety of activities is what captivates our guests and keep them coming back.

Other Activities

Alaska is home to over 98 percent of our country’s brown bear population with Kodiak having more than it’s fair share. Bear viewing from Kodiak Island Resort takes you to some of the best and most spectacular locations to view Kodiak Brown Bears anywhere.

Kodiak Island, Alaska Viewing bears in their natural habitat at Kodiak Island Resort is a truly awesome experience.

Grizzlies and brown bears are part of the same Alaska bear family. The term brown bear is usually given to bears that reside in Alaska coastal areas, while grizzlies usually reside inland. Kodiak brown bears tend to be larger than grizzlies due to a more abundant supply of protein to eat such as salmon.

Our bear viewing trips often travel by bush plane or boat from our lodge in Larsen Bay to either Halo Bay, in Katmai National Park, or to the Frazier River in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge. All of our trips trips offer excellent opportunities to see a heavy concentration of bears, and many times no other people around, other than your party. Our guides know the best places that are off the beaten path. We also see bears, almost daily, around the lodge or foraging along the shorelines and often near where we fish.

At the Frazier watch bears congregate in the river to feed on the seasonal returns of sockeye and Pink Salmon. The Halo Bay adventure has bears digging clams in tidal flats as well as foraging along the coastline and expansive tidal planes. Both trips also provide the opportunity to see some of the world’s most spectacular country from the air.
