Overview

Strategically located in the heart of northern Manitoba’s finest Northern Pike, Walleye and Lake Trout habitat Laurie River Lodge offers discriminating fishermen access to the first 40 miles of the Laurie River and several other lakes in the area south west of Lynn Lake, Manitoba. There is more water than even our 8-day customers can hope to see in a single trip.

As the operators of a full service, first class American Plan Fishing & Hunting Lodge Erin and I realize that the comfort, safety and enjoyment of our guests rest fully on our shoulders. We are owner operators and as such are always on hand to oversee the smallest details of your trip. We hire a competent staff, provide modern facilities, safe and reliable equipment and ensure that necessary supplies are always available.

Located 56 air miles Southwest of the small mining town of Lynn Lake, MB, Kamuchawie Outpost Camp offers fishermen access to over 20 miles of the cleanest, clearest most beautiful water in Manitoba. The lake is unbelievably productive for Northern Pike and Lake Trout.

Each year our guests catch hundreds and hundreds of Pike 40″ or better and literally thousands of Pike between 30 and 40 inches. Over the years many fish in excess of 50 inches have been caught in the productive waters of the Laurie River and surrounding lakes. In 2019 Laurie River Lodge anglers caught well over 250 trophy Pike!

Walleye also abound in the Laurie River. The same slow flowing system that created hundreds of shallow water bays for the Pike also provides a perfect habitat for spawning Walleye. The rocky points and numerous reefs provide optimum summer cover making them great places to catch Walleye in July and August. Fun to catch, great to eat, fresh Walleye is the key ingredient to the daily shore lunches cooked up by our professional guides. While they are great to eat our Walleye regularly attain trophy size of 28 inches with some fish over 30″ available making them almost as sought after as the Northern Pike by trophy fishermen.

Not to be outdone by the Pike and Walleye, the Laurie River system also produces some huge Lake Trout. In 2019 we had many Lakers over 40″ caught, we estimate a 40″ Trout to be in excess of 35 pounds! The availability of great Trout fishing makes this fishery one of the few that has outstanding representation from all three of northern Manitoba’s most sought after game fish.

What makes us unique:

  1. Laurie River Lodge is a family run, owner-operated fishing lodge, accessible only by air. Erin and I take great pride in the fact that over 85% of the fishermen that join us annually can be classified as repeat customers. In other words, most of our guests have made at least one trip to Laurie River Lodge in the past and have chosen to return. We are always on hand to ensure that our guests are well looked after.
  2. The Laurie River system is an amazingly productive three species fishery. Our customers catch and release hundreds and hundreds of trophy Pike, Walleye and Lake Trout every summer. If there is a better multi-species fishery in northern Canada I am unaware of it.
  3. We primarily fish the small to medium sized lakes that makeup the Laurie River System. Most of our lakes fall into the 12,000 to 25,000 acre size range. These lakes are easily big enough to be extremely productive but small enough to be easy to fish, even in bad weather conditions. Some of the best fishing we have within minutes of the Laurie river Lodge dock.

Details

Getting to Laurie River Lodge has never been easier. In 2018 we will be offering our American Plan customers 4, 6 and 8-day package trips including transportation from Winnipeg, MB. Delta Airlines currently offers 4 flights / day from Minneapolis, United Airlines has direct flights from Chicago & Denver While Air Canada offers flights through Toronto.

To keep things simple and easy we are asking all of our customers to stay at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel right at the Winnipeg International Airport. We have negotiated a special rate of $140.00 Canadian for a double room. The Courtyard is located right at the airport eliminating the need for transportation to an off sight hotel. There is also an excellent restaurant, beverage room, free Wi-Fi and exercise facilities at the Courtyard. Our contact at the Marriott is Kamal Kaur. You may reach Kamal in her office at 204-594-2286, on her mobile at 204-229-6753 or via e-mail at kamal@courtyardwpg.com. Your best bet is to send her an e-mail as she is a busy lady and is rarely in her office.

Please Note: The Courtyard is supplying transportation from the hotel to the Kelly Western Hanger on the morning your trip is scheduled to start as part of your room rate therefor you MUST make your reservation through Kamal so she knows how many fishermen to plan for on each changeover day.

Once in Lynn Lake it is a short 20 minute float plane ride out to Laurie River Lodge where your cabin and an early lunch await.

The flight from Lynn Lake to Winnipeg will arrive at 1:30 PM leaving ample time to catch your southbound connections to your home city.
