Overview

Lynn Lake Lodge is a peaceful, family-run getaway tucked away in Day County, northeastern South Dakota. Originally a sixth-generation farm, it was transformed into a lodge in 1999 and has since welcomed families, couples, hunters, anglers, and retreat groups. Surrounded by wildflower fields, nesting waterfowl, and calm countryside, it offers a truly secluded experience. With warm hospitality from longtime hosts Paul and Karen Johnson, guests enjoy a quiet stay close to nature while still within 12 miles of city conveniences.

The accommodations are apartment-style units that vary between one and two bedrooms. Each features a living area, full bath, and kitchen, along with Wi-Fi, cable TV, AC, propane grills, linens, towels, and toiletries. Two-bedroom units require a minimum of three guests. A single occupancy rate is available, and kids aged 5 and under stay free, while those 6–12 stay at half price.

There’s also a freezer for your catch, propane grills, satellite TV, and Wi-Fi in each unit. Guests will find themselves well-supported, whether preparing meals, cleaning fish or game, or simply enjoying time outdoors.

Meals

Meals at Lynn Lake Lodge are self-prepared in fully equipped kitchens. Every unit includes cookware, utensils, a stove, and a microwave. While there’s no on-site restaurant, the bait shop carries a limited supply of food items, and guests can also purchase premium local beef from Back Forty Beef, conveniently stocked in a cooler in the office.

Other Activities

While fishing is a central attraction, there’s much more to enjoy at Lynn Lake Lodge. Guests can relax by private picnic spots, observe wildlife, or visit nearby country churches. The modern game-cleaning station and pet-friendly policy are perfect for hunters and dog owners. Family reunions, group gatherings, and even corporate meetings can be held in the central meeting room. A scenic new campfire area and proximity to swimming pools, parks, golf courses, and restaurants in Webster add to the recreational variety.

Boats are not rented at the lodge, but guests can bring their own and plug into provided electrical outlets. With plenty of space for trailers and a fish-cleaning facility on-site, the setup is ideal for serious anglers.

Details

Trip planning to Lynn Lake Lodge is easy and flexible. The lodge is open year-round with no minimum stay requirement. Directions should be taken from the lodge’s official guide, as internet maps can mislead due to closed roads.
