Overview

Located in the greater Terrace region on the banks of the lower Skeena, Skeena River Lodge is one of BC’s finest salmon and steelhead lodges with an unbeatable combination of classified waters complimented by world-class meals and accommodations. At Skeena River Lodge guests can fish multiple sections of the Skeena, the Kalum, Copper and Kitimat as well as enjoy very tasteful single accommodations and elegant meals prepared by an internationally trained chef. Head guide Jeroen Wohe, originally from Holland, is a highly skilled, passionate professional who has spent years fishing and guiding the waters of BC as well as the trophy Atlantic salmon rivers of Russia’s Kola peninsula. He will oversee the lodge’s fishing program from start to finish ensuring that all Skeena River Lodge guests will experience the best of what this remarkable region has to offer.

At Skeena River Lodge, we are proud to be a “fly fishing only” lodge! For us fly fishing is a way of life! We are experts with Spey and single handed fishing methods for the elusive steelhead and all 5 species of pacific salmon. It is all possible with Skeena River Lodge!

Fly fishing is always challenging for steelhead and salmon. You have to work hard for that fish of a life time! Whether fly fishing for the elusive Steelhead or the mighty King (Tyhee/Chinook) some days it can be very tough and other days it all looks so easy.

The fly fisher who is pursuing the wild steelhead or salmon of BC must possess many skills, the most important of which are endurance and passion. Especially when Mother Nature is not co operating, it is important to be flexible and always willing to work hard for your fish.

The scenery is breathtaking. It is as if you are fly fishing in a painting. Moose, bears and wolves are common companions along the river. Bald eagles soar among the snow capped mountains, watching every move we make.

Our steelhead and salmon fishery is special and unique to this part of the world. We spend long days on the river in search of mighty salmon and steelhead. Often these glacial fed rivers are shrouded in fog and always surrounded by pristine forests. There is a magic in this pure, unpolluted air that will keep you coming back to beautiful Northern British Columbia.

The Skeena River Lodge experience not only offers an unequalled fly fishing adventure in a breathtaking environment. We also provide the angler with priceless knowledge about the fishery here in BC. Our guides can offer you detailed Spey/ single handed casting instruction as well as sharing their knowledge about specific fishing situations such as fly selection, sink tip usage, line control and presentation methods. Our guides will provide you with all the ingredients needed to land that trophy fish of a lifetime.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Description

Skeena River Lodge offers accommodations at two separate sites.

Main Lodge

The new Skeena River Lodge facility is arguably the best built and most luxurious of all the BC steelhead fishing lodges. Their main lodge overlooks their casting pond and offers a wide range of well-appointed accommodations and cabins across their significant property. All guests have single rooms with private baths. Meals are prepared by a highly skilled chef and are of the highest level, served in the main dining area.

The main lodge is situated in close proximity to the Skeena, Kitimat, Copper (Zymoetz) and Kalum (Kitsumkalum) rivers. The Lodge is sitting on seven acres of private land, surrounded with Crown land! We are only a 20 minute drive from the Terrace Airport and the city of Terrace. This location provides accommodation for six to eight anglers in a handcrafted post and beam cabin.

Our rustic cabin provides all the basics to ensure you are well rested and well fed. We have hot showers, comfortable single beds along with simple, wholesome home-cooked meals to ensure you eat well and get a good night’s sleep. We are all about fishing, not fancy. Don’t expect champagne or roast duck but you can count on a nice steak or lasagne. Because we aren’t fancy, we don’t charge fancy prices. We are focussed on the fishing, and that is why we are a real fly fishing lodge.

Nass Base Camp

Our remote Nass Base Camp is located on the banks of the beautiful Meziaden lake close to the Alaskan border. This base camp use to be a tent camp, but now we own a very nice 1700 sq.ft log home with a guide cabin on the side. We run this camp only in September and October. This Lodge is a no-nonsense steelhead programme. We fish the Bell Irving river and other secret rivers what will guarantee you a real Northern BC steelhead adventure!

The Nass Base Camp is a simple, no frills semi-funky 1700 square foot cabin near the shore of Meziadin Lake. It has four single occupancy bedrooms as well as a loft in the event there is a snorer. Guests share one bathroom. In addition to the main cabin are two very simple, single occupancy cabins each with their own bath. These cabins can be reserved with an upcharge. The lodge has a full time cook and hearty meals will be served in the main dining room. While simple, and unpolished, this is a great little camp with super staff that serious anglers greatly enjoy.

Because a quality angling experience is our top priority, we only allow four anglers per week in our camp. This two angler per guide ratio guarantees you top notch service.

    BOATS

    Description

Safety first! That’s why at Skeena River Lodge we use only the best equipment available. Our Jet Boats are all custom made for our type of guiding. We run Outlaws, Wolfmade, Harbercraft and Alumafix boats. Some of our jet boats have teflon bottoms so we can go to fishing spots, most other boats can’t go.

We also use AIRE self bailing white water rafts. 13, 12 and 10 footers. This is the best and safest raft out there. It allows us to navigate around the many big boulders and rapids, in search of Salmon and Steelhead. At Skeena River Lodge we believe only the best equipment will do when you are pursuing the fish of a lifetime.
