Southeast Alaska, and specifically Prince of Wales Island is world renowned for its world class salmon fishing, halibut fishing, bear and deer hunting, and wildlife viewing opportunities. Calder Mountain Lodge is located in the small town of Point Baker, Alaska on the northern tip of Prince of Wales Island. This location puts you within minutes of some of the best fishing and hunting in the world. The remote location, friendly staff and management, and top-of-the-line accommodations provide an experience you can't find anywhere else.

Calder Mountain Lodge is located in the tiny fishing village of Pt. Baker on the northern tip of Prince of Wales Island, one of the finest salt water and fresh water fishing locations in southeast Alaska. No roads go to Pt. Baker; access is only by boat or float plane. Despite the remoteness of the lodge, guests are thoroughly pampered with top notch accommodations and delicious dining in our beautiful lodge.

Calder Mountain Lodge is located on the northernmost point of Prince of Wales Island, allowing easy access to some of southeast Alaska's finest fishing. Halibut, Red Snapper and many varieties of Salmon are plentiful in Sumner Strait, so you'll want to plan the time of your vacation according to the type of fish you are most interested in catching. King Salmon are most plentiful from mid-June through early July, followed by Silver Salmon from July to September. Halibut are abundant all season, but the largest can be caught from late July through August.

One of southeast Alaska's most productive salt water fishing areas, Sumner Strait, sustains large populations of halibut, cod, and red snapper. All five species of Pacific salmon migrate through the strait on their way to the streams and rivers of Alaska and British Columbia to spawn. Huge numbers move right past the lodge. Fabulous salt water fishing is practically on our doorstep. You can just walk outside and catch fish! The calm, protected waters add to the enjoyment to fishing in Pt. Baker, Alaska.
