Ketchikan salmon fishing and Ketchikan halibut fishing can be done the same day on our full day guided charters.

AN AMAZING SOUTHEAST ALASKA FISHING LODGE EXPERIENCE… ONE EASY FLIGHT FROM SEATTLE

Chinook Shores’ Alaska fishing lodge is located in southeast Alaska about 30 minutes north of Ketchikan in Knudson Cove. Getting here is easy, you can fly from Seattle to Ketchikan in less than two hours on Alaskan Airlines. We’ll drive you to the lodge and you can start enjoying Alaska salmon and halibut fishing that same day. Our accommodations consist of four private beach houses with decks overlooking Knudson Cove.

Ketchikan Alaska is known as the “Salmon Capital of the World” and is famous for huge runs of salmon, calm water halibut fishing, and many species of rock fish. You don’t have to go far (15-30 minutes) to get into some truly awesome fishing. Whether you’re unguided fishing in our 23′ bare-boats or guided fishing with a charter captain in our 30′ charter boat, you can enjoy same day combination salmon, halibut and rockfish trips. Some days the best salmon fishing is just five minutes away from our dock.

Self-guided packages let you fish and explore at your own pace and come and go as you please. The protected waters of the inside passage provide the perfect opportunity for the do-it-yourselfer to safely pilot a boat and fish for king salmon, silvers, pinks, chum, halibut and rockfish. To further enhance your experience our 21-23′ boats are equipped with GPS chart plotters, fish finders and VHF radios so you can safely find your way while you’re fishing and sightseeing. We provide an orientation with helpful instruction on operating and fishing your boat safely and effectively. If you are new to fishing this area, we recommend your first day guided on the water.

There are several rivers and creeks located within boating or driving distance from our fishing lodge. These fresh water systems are great for steelhead, trout, salmon and black bear viewing depending on what time of year you fish them. We don’t provide fresh water spinning rods, fly rods or waders but if you bring your own and want to spend a day on the river, we can show you where to go.

What makes us unique:

  1. Your group will be staying in a private beach front Chalet with full amenities.
  2. Your boat is conveniently located in front of your chalet at our private dock.
  3. You’ll fish calm water in first class self-guided or guided boats exclusive to your group.
  4. You’ll simply take one short flight from Seattle to Ketchikan to get here.
  5. You’ll save hundreds, if not thousands on expensive air fare.
  6. Choose from unguided fishing or guided or both.

We have ten boats — One 28′ Shamrock (above top) for guided charters, seven 21′ Silver Streak (above bottom) and two 21′ North River aluminum for self guided fishermen.

At Chinook Shores Alaska fishing lodge the charter fishing boats are fast, comfortable vessels with cabin seating, toilets and plenty of fishing room. Our Self Guided Alaska Fishing Fleet Can’t Be Beat!

We shopped around to find the perfect self-guided boats for fishing in Southeast Alaska and we found them. Our custom built 23′ Silver Streak hardtops and North River’s rugged 21′ Seahawk are ideal for unguided fishing the waters of Inside Passage, Clover Pass and Beam Canal. The Seahawk has a variable pitched welded aluminum hull that starts out steep in the bow and flattens out in the stern. This provides for a smooth ride with lots of stability and it is a very safe boat. These boats will safely handle much heavier seas than the average operator.

Our unguided Alaska fishing boats can seat six people and will fish four rods. The covered top, welded windshield and helm steering will keep you and your gear dry all day.

We have seven (7) 23′ and two (2) 21′ self guided boats rigged with the following equipment:

    • All USCG required life jackets, safety equipment & anchor with 400 feet of rope
    • 115-hp or 140-hp 4-stroke outboard main engine & 8-hp kicker
    • Garmin GPSMAP 541 color GPS chart plotter / Sounder, VHF Radio
    • Two downriggers with 10-lb balls, Scotty release clips, gaff, net & halibut harpoon
    • 8′ medium action salmon rods & Penn GT2 320 reels with 25-lb Izorline mono
