Alaska fishing trips vary greatly depending on what river you fish. The Kenai River is a prime location for reeling in King Salmon, Silver Salmon, Red Salmon and Pink Salmon, as well as Trophy Trout. Alaska is also known as the best place in the world to go halibut fishing, and once you boat a halibut you will understand. We ensure that you will get the most out of your trip to the Last Frontier.
Our fishing trips are for both veteran and inexperienced anglers looking for the trip of a lifetime. We have been doing Alaska fishing trips in this river system and throughout the Kenai Peninsula for over 19 years and we know the ins and outs of the land, the water, the fish, and the industry itself.
Alaska Fish On Charters specializes in fishing on the Kenai River and offers other services, too, like bear viewing trips in the great Alaskan outback. If it’s Alaska salmon fishing you want, Gary is the man to see. With more than 30 years of experience, he’s a favorite of both clients and fellow guides. According to the State of Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Gary respects the area’s environment and “provides a safe and positive experience for his clients.”
The Kenai Peninsula has many rivers that have thousands of King (Chinook) salmon entering them every year. Alaskan Kenai River fishing holds 8 out of the top 10 record King salmon in the world, with the world record being 97.4 lbs. It’s common to catch fish weighing between 60 and 80 lbs., with the majority of the fish averaging 30 to 50 lbs. The Kenai King salmon are some of the hardest fighting fish in the world. Plan on fighting one of these massive fish anywhere from a half hour to an hour when in the tidal waters.
An expert in the four species that are common in the Kenai Peninsula (King, Sockeye, Coho, and Pink), Gary has the experience to know which fish are worth keeping and which are starting to turn bad. Alaska Salmon Fishing Guides should familiar with the entire river system, Alaska Fish On Charters! knows where to go when the fishing in one area is not as good as it could be.
It’s more than a business with Gary; it’s a passion. That means he’ll go out of his way to make sure your salmon expedition is as productive as possible. Gary believes that making clients happy will create more clients down the road—and give him more chances to share his love of fishing.
Why we’re the best in the business:
We’re Professionals
We give a 110% effort to give you the best vacation of your life. Our business is ran professionally with the most courteous people to assure that everyone goes home with a smile on their face. Our company has more than 25 years of experience catching salmon, halibut, and trophy trout in Alaska. Our custom services provide a place to stay that matches your exact request. We treat our clients like family, and not like just another dollar in the pocket.
We Take Care of You
Our lodging provides a place for you to process your fish through vacuum sealing and freezing. Our lodging saves you money on processing your fish, unlike other outfitters that don’t even provide these services. They send you to processing plants that will charge you nearly $2 a pound and sometimes you don’t even go home with the fish that you caught. If you spend the time, money, and energy to catch your fish, you want to know that you end up with the one you caught.
We Want to Help
Alaska Fish On Charters will help you with trip ideas, tours, and outings to fill time that you’re not fishing. Many of our clients like to try some fishing on their own, so we supply them with poles and good locations, along with some of our fishing secrets. We also have clients that like to dig razor clams when the tides are right and take home limits of clams with them. We supply buckets, shovels, boots, instructions, and a place to clean, vacuum pack, and freeze the clams.
We’re Safe
Alaska Fish On Charters owners Gary and Darlene Kernan have fished Alaskan waters for over 25 years. Serving thousands of clients over 15 years, we have never had any accidents or injuries on or off the river. The business has never had any violation or citation for fishing or boating issues either. Our records stand clean with the BBB. The majority of our clients come from repeat and word of mouth referrals. We work hard to make your trip the best time you have ever had. We know that an outfitter can write paragraphs up just to make you feel better about them; so please take the time to look at our reference letters from clients and local organizations as proof.
